Councillor Cormac Devlin has informed local residents about the proposed plans at the Shankill Tennis & Bowls Club (Quinn's Road). Cllr. Devlin supported the plans to go out on public consultation.
He asked Council Management about;
* Additional public lighting around the proposed new footpaths behind the proposed new tennis courts
* CCTV to protect the proposed playgrounds (and other new facilities)
* The arrangements for the proposed management/key holders for the Indoor Sport Hall
* Also, the plans for construction traffic access to the site (either down Quinn's Road or through Corbawn Estate)
The number of car parking spaces would be increased by 14 (on-street) spaces as well as an additional 12 car parking spaces (in existing car park). The cost of the project is estimated to be €1.83 million. The majority of the cost relates to the the necessity to relocate the existing 3 tennis courts to facilitate access to the proposed Indoor Sports Hall.
