Local Councillor, Cormac Devlin raised the rapidly deteriorating ramps along Oliver Plunkett Road at a recent Council meeting. Despite the Council's isistance that resources are scarce, he will continue to persue this important issue on behalf of local residents.

"I have received a large volume of complaints from residents from the Mounttown and surrounding area about the atrocious state of the ramps along Oliver Plunkett Road. These ramps were only installed in 2010 and have quickly deteriorated to an unacceptable degree.

I raised this issue at a recent County Council meeting and have requested that the ramps would be repaired without delay and also requesting it be investigated why they fell into such a poor condition so quickly.

The Manager replied stating “These ramps were constructed using red asphalt material which subsequently proved to be unsatisfactory. This, together with other factors such as the two recent severe weather events and the fact that buses previously used this road, are the most likely causes of the earlier deterioration of their condition than would normally be the case. The repair/replacement of these ramps will take place as soon as resources permit.”

I will continue to pursue this matter until the ramps are either repaired with a fit for purpose material." concluded Cllr. Devlin
