Residents, community groups and organisations are invited to unite and help clean-up Killiney Beach on Sunday 25th March at 12pm (meeting in the car park opposite Killiney DART station) as part of #EUBeachCleanUp Day.

Each year nearly 20 million tonnes of waste is discharged into our oceans. 50% of all marine litter is single-use plastics like drink bottles, crisp packets and cigarette butts. The public are being asked to come along and help clean up the beach. All necessary equipment will be supplied on the day.

This is an EU wide initiative, taking place on the same day right across Europe. It is organised for local residents, groups and organisations to combine their efforts to try and collect rubbish and hazardous materials from our oceans. Like all environmental steps, everyone playing their part locally helps globally.

For those that cannot make this event, the Killiney District Community Council are organising another clean-up on Saturday 14th April between 11am - 1pm meeting at the same location.
