DEVLIN CRITICAL OF REMOVAL OF TREES AROUND FORMER GOLF CLUB LANDS

Local Councillor Cormac Devlin has criticised the developers of the former Golf Club lands and the Council's area planners for not retaining more trees on the lands. In early March, tree surgeons moved in to cut down hundreds of mature trees that surrounded the perimeter of the former Golf Club lands causing annoyance and up-set to surrounding local residents. Cllr. Devlin stated that he is "not only concerned about the lack of protection afforded to the mature trees however I am also particularly concerned for the wildlife (foxes, squirrels and birds) who now have no where to go and a plan must be put in place to rescue these animals."
